A motion was filed recently in order to consolidate all federal lawsuits over the DePuy hip replacement defects and now DePuy Orthopaedics and Johnson & Johnson have agreed that the suit should be transferred to one judge.
In March, the first DePuy hip recall lawsuit was filed and a motion was set to consolidate them. The lawsuits claim that the DePuy hip replacement system failed and caused much pain and required revision surgery.
DePuy then stated that cases should be consolidated so that there is no overlapping cases involving the company. They requested that the suits consolidated in the Northern District of Texas. The consolidation has also be requested by others to reduce duplicate discovery.
