A resident in Whitehall is urging the Food and Drug Administration to perform a clinical trialĀ on hip replacement systems after he had two failures from Johnson & Johnson hip replacement systems.
The man stated that this is his second surgery that has caused him pain and he was upset to find out that the products were later involved in recall lawsuit. He then stated that it is difficult to find doctors that will perform further operations for fear of being involved in a lawsuit.
The man underwent his first hip replacement in December 2008 and was in pain for over a year before going though with the surgery. He underwent surgery on the other hip in February 2010 and after this one, he couldĀ barely walk.
Next month, they will travel to Washington D.C. in order to speak with officials from the FDA and plead with them to tighten regulations so that hip implants can not reach the market before tests are done.
