What is hip implant loosening?

Patients who receive hip replacement implants will have portions of their femurs and pelvises removed so that surgeons can mount the implant to these bones. Usually, surgeons will cement the implants in place or will crimp the implants onto the bones, ensuring that they are sturdily attached.

Unfortunately, these implants can loosen over time. This may happen when the cement used to glue the implant down wears away or when the crimping comes undone. When this occurs, implant patients may suffer a great deal and will lose mobility in the affected hip.

If you or someone you love has suffered a loosened hip implant after receiving a DePuy ASR hip replacement system implant, contact the DePuy lawsuit attorneys of Williams Hart today at 800-761-3187 to learn more.
