What is sepsis?

Posted on June 18th, 2012 No Comments

When a person is in need of a hip replacement surgery, the procedure can be very beneficial because it may be able to help with mobility and pain issues significantly.

Recently, the use of certain metal-on-metal hip replacement systems has caused other side effects and issues and has even lead to a major recall. DePuy hip replacement systems have been linked to a higher rate of failure, which has lead many people to require revision surgeries.

Infection may occur after any surgery, but it is even more likely if there is a defective factor associated with the system. If the infection spreads to the blood, it can increase the likelihood that hazards may occur. If sepsis occurs, the best thing to do is treat it early, which is why it is important to be able to identify the symptoms. A few symptoms of sepsis include, fever, nausea, high blood pressure, vomiting, dizziness and fast breathing.
